Llandrindod Wells got behind Welsh Government's "Support your high street week" by launching Love Llandrindod loyalty cards, organised by Cynefin, the Town Champion and the Business Group. The scheme aimed to encourage more footfall in the town and entice spend into the independent shops. From September 19-26th every transaction of £2.50 or more earned a loyalty sticker.
The full cards of eight stickers went into a prize draw for a chance to win a 39 inch LED Smart TV, which was generously donated by the Co-op, or a cash prize of £50 donated by the Mayor of Llandrindod Wells, Councillor Chris Rouse.
The prize draw took place at the Youth Market on 26th September and the top prize was claimed by a local resident who has been a long term supporter of the local shops.
The chair of the Llandrindod Wells Business Group, Justin Baird Murry said "The scheme was a great way to support the local retailers and cafes and at the same time win a valuable prize. It really could not be simpler and will I hope encourage a resurgence in the use of our excellent local shops."
Jude Boutle the Llandrindod Wells Town Champion and Diana Berriman the Cynefin Place Co-ordinator have been working together on the Youth Market. Jude said "the loyalty card scheme was a great way to encourage people in the town for the week running up to Youth Market and to get customers to come to the Youth Market where the prizes were drawn."
The team behind the card would like to thank the Mayor and the Co-op for their generous support in donating the prizes for the scheme. The local shops were thrilled with the results and are keen to do another loyalty card scheme in the lead up to Christmas.
