Blaenllechau celebrates a busy year of local improvements with a street party

1 June 2015

It was only last August that Blaenllechau held a street party to celebrate a brilliant year of community involvement in tidying up previously overgrown areas of the village, installing benches, putting in street planters and bird boxes, restoring a traditional dyke and undertaking a wildflower survey. There is much to celebrate this year including; training locals in the science/techniques of controlling knotweed, funding a secure community storage facility, taking on the upkeep of the local sports field, tidying up and preventing fly tipping, the creation of a local food growing group and identification of a site, making local volunteering possible through official arrangements with DWP and organising a community orchard.

This summer the focus of the village celebrations will be the planting of the recently acquired community orchard space, there will be a street party and those who wish to can plant and/or adopt a tree or planter box. Please keep your eyes open for banners and fliers locally with further details.
